Reasons why Eskom developed the rebate model include

• Urgent need to accelerate energy efficiency project to reduce the energy shortfall
• Current and projected supply - demand gap shows an electricity shortage in South Africa.
• Currently R 5.45 bn are budgeted to be utilized on DSM initiative in a 3 year window.
• Funding currently available on the commercial rebate program: R350 million.

The Eskom Esko model

• ESCO's are Eskom approved energy savings companies.
• ESCO's are experts at energy management projects
• ESCO's identify opportunities within companies to reduce electricity consumption
• ESCO’s submit proposals on their customers’ behalf to ESKOM in order that the customer may participate in the funding program
• Energy Tech is a registered ESCO at Eskom
